Ana Miura

Described as “Easily one of the best, most haunting, confident voices I’ve heard in music today.”, Ana Miura has been welcomed into the music scene with her warm folky jazz, pop, and rock style. This gem from Ottawa has preformed at some of Canada’s best venues and festivals. Chosen as a finalist in CBC’s Galaxie Rising Stars event, and has shared the stage with many bright stars.

Having been on stage with some of North America’s pre-eminent musicians such as Broken Social Scene, Sarah Harmer, Rick Fines and Chris Brown, Ana Miura knows a thing or two about being in the spotlight.

Her debut album Tenacious Heart has been met with success in Canada and abroad. Since its release in 2005 she’s been nominated and awarded  with numerous  awards. She is the 2008 recipient of the Beth Ferguson award, the winner of the 2006 Songs from the Heart Songwriting award and was selected as one of the “10 to Watch” by the Ottawa Citizen in 2007.

Ana’s not just an incredible musician; she’s also the founder and director of Babes for Breasts (BFB), and organization that takes female singers and songwriters across Canada to raise money for breast cancer charities. To date, the “Babes” have raised more than $33,000 dollars. It takes someone with a big voice and a big heart to accomplish something like that.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Ana’s debut album, ‘Tenacious Heart’ and her special edition EP entitled ‘Mercury Rising’. At the moment, Ana’s working hard on her third album with engineer/producer Ross Murray. She hopes to record a selection of Japanese songs and tour Japan very soon.
