This was really great. Mucho gracias, Bell. I dunno if you or anyone reading this would be interested, but since it's pretty relevant to the subject of hearing impaired people, you really have to get your hands on this if you can find it anywhere
http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/hearandnow/index.html
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0912587/
It's about a couple in their 60s or 70s who undergo undergo cochlear implant surgery and it's just a really good documentary. I sobbed. A lot.

And although I'm aware that this is the same comment I left weeks ago, the sincerity still remains! :D

Hello Kendra.

What a beauiful article about your mother. I met your mother many years ago at the Canadain Hearing Society, as I am hard of hearing. I was struck by your mother's intelligence, passion and drive to be the best she could be. I met up with your mother last year in Newmarket for CHS picnic, and we got caught up after so many years away. She hasn't change a bit, just as driven and passisonate as always. One thing struck me about her though, she if very proud of her children. What a lovely lady you are, to have the maturity and compassion for your mother's hearing loss. Any mother would be so proud to have a daughter like you. You have a great future ahead of you...the world needs more people like you! Take care and the best of luck!

Kendra, having known your mother since childhood, I can easily agree that she is an incredible person. When I was younger, my father would always comment on how amazing your mother really is, how bright and capable, and your article really hits home for how I felt back then. Having been a child when I met her I never appreciated the challenges she experienced growing up. All I knew was that she was a brilliant, warm and caring person who was so good to my sister and me when we came over to visit.
As an adult, I now better understand how challenging it can be for a hearing impaired person in every-day life.
Your article is very well written and I very much enjoyed reading it. It doesn't surprise me that you have the writing gene too :) I hope to see more articles from you...All my best,
Guy
